What the app is, how it's organised by block and subject, studying as a guest, and installing it to work offline.

Getting started

Medicine is a free study app for medical school. Everything in it is organised the way the course is: by study block (1.1, 1.2, 1.3…) and then by subject (anatomy, histology, physiology…). Each subject can have flashcards, image-occlusion figures, a quiz, an ebook, a summary and the lecture slides. Each block can have timed practice exams.

You don't need an account

Open the app and start studying. As a guest, everything works: reviews, quizzes, exams, reading progress and your streak are saved in this browser on this device.

An account is optional. It adds:

Find your way around

  • Home shows your streak, cards due, what you were last doing ("continue"), the tip of the day and a card for every subject, block by block.
  • Subjects gives each subject one page with everything it has and what's due next. It's the quickest way into a subject.
  • The sidebar groups the rest: Study (exam plan, flashcards, image occlusion, quizzes, exams, Virtual Lab), Read (ebooks, summaries, modules, Class Drive, knowledge map) and You (progress, leaderboard, account, this help). On a phone the same groups are in the tab bar at the bottom.
  • Press Ctrl + K (⌘ + K on a Mac) anywhere to jump to any page or subject by typing its name.

Put your block first

On the Account page, set Current block. Home then shows that block first. It works for guests too, and you can change it any time.

Install it and use it offline

The app can be installed like a phone or desktop app:

  • Android / Chrome / Edge: open the browser menu and choose Install app (or Add to Home screen).
  • iPhone / iPad: open the site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

After your first visit the app opens without an internet connection. Flashcards, quizzes, exams, ebooks, summaries and the lab all work offline. A lecture PDF works offline once you've opened it once. The things that need a connection are signing in, syncing, the Class Drive and Alfond.

Updates

When a new version is out, a small A new version is ready bar appears. Press Refresh when it suits you. The app never reloads on its own, so a quiz or exam in progress is never lost.

The bottom of every page shows the block you're studying (your block from Account, or the one with the next exam) and the app's version and build, for example v0.1.49 · build fb0fd76. Mention the version when you report a problem.

Light or dark

The app follows your device's light or dark setting. Use the sun/moon button in the sidebar to switch.
