Creating an account, signing in with Google, how progress syncs between devices, and signing out safely.

Accounts and sync

You can use the whole app as a guest. An account keeps your progress the same on every device you use, and opens the Class Drive, Alfond, AI explanations and the leaderboard.

Create an account

Open Account and either:

  • press Sign up with Google (or Continue with Google) and pick your Google account, or
  • choose Create account and enter your name, email and a password of at least 8 characters.

You can add your cohort to your profile, so the leaderboard and the class average can compare you with your own class.

Already studied as a guest?

Nothing is lost. The first time you sign in, everything you studied on this device is merged into the account: card by card, attempt by attempt and day by day. Studying on two devices before signing in on both is fine too.

Signing in with Google and a password

On the Account page, Sign-in methods shows how you can sign in. A password account can Connect Google, after which either way works.

Google blocks sign-in inside some apps' built-in browsers (Instagram, LINE and others). If the Google button doesn't work, open the site in Chrome or Safari instead.

How sync works

Once you're signed in, sync is automatic:

  • a few seconds after you study something,
  • every few minutes while the app is open,
  • and when you come back to the tab or your connection returns.

You can study offline: changes wait on the device and sync when you're back online. The Sync section of the Account page shows when it last synced.

What syncs: card and label reviews, quiz and exam history, reading progress and finished chapters, study days and your study log, exam plan settings, Virtual Lab data, Drive files you've opened, and settings such as your current block, reading settings, exam mode and the knowledge map's graph settings.

What stays on each device: the light or dark theme, the sidebar state, a quiz you haven't finished, today's plan as drawn up that morning, and Alfond's conversation.

Signing out

  • Sign out keeps your progress on this device, so you can carry on as a guest.
  • Sign out and clear this device removes your progress from this browser (it stays safe in your account). Use it on a shared or borrowed computer.

Your data

Download my data saves everything stored in your account as a file. Delete account removes the account and all its progress for good (type DELETE to confirm). See Your data and privacy.
