1. Agreement

These terms apply to your use of Medicine at medicine.necr.help (the "service"). By using it you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

2. What Medicine is

Medicine is a free study tool for medical students: flashcards, quizzes, practice exams, ebooks, summaries and lecture material, organised by study block. You can use it as a guest without an account, or create an optional account to sync your progress between devices and join the leaderboard.

3. Study content is not medical advice

The content is written to help you study. It may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and it doesn't replace your lectures, official course material, textbooks or teachers. It is not medical advice and must not be used to diagnose or treat anyone. Always check anything important against authoritative sources. If you spot a mistake, please report it on GitHub.

4. Your account

• Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your password or Google account secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
• An account is for one person. Don't share it or sign in as someone else.
• You can delete your account at any time from the Account page.

5. The leaderboard

• Joining is optional, and you can leave at any time.
• Scores come from your own synced study progress. Don't inflate them by editing stored data, automating answers, or any other trick.
• Display names must not impersonate anyone, or be offensive, harassing or misleading.
• We may change or remove a display name, reset scores, or remove someone from the leaderboard to keep it fair and respectful.

6. Acceptable use

Don't:

• try to access other people's accounts or data, or parts of the service you're not meant to reach;
• attack, overload, probe for weaknesses in, or disrupt the service (if you find a security problem, please report it privately instead);
• use the service to break the law or anyone's rights;
• scrape or harvest other users' information.

7. Content and licences

Medicine's source code is open source under the MIT License. Lecture slides and other course material in the service belong to their respective authors and institutions, and are provided for students' personal study. Don't redistribute them beyond that. If you own material in the service and want it removed, contact us and we'll take it down.

8. Availability and changes

We provide the service free of charge and may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time. We try to keep your synced progress safe, but you can export it from the Progress page (guest mode) or the Account page (accounts) at any time, and we recommend keeping a copy of anything important.

9. Suspension

We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, for example by abusing the service or other users. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why.

10. No warranty and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of content, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, exam results or opportunities, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll show a notice in the app. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the new terms.
